The Invenergy MIDhill windfarm proposal

Some Background

Our beautiful Borthwickwater Valley is under threat. This historic valley is renowned for its rare wildlife, dark skies, red squirrels, iron age and bronze age forts. It is a timeless landscape which is home to the historic Roman and Reivers route and attracts visitors who come to enjoy its unique beauty.

This might all change as USA’s largest privately owned wind farm company, Invenergy, is planning to build 27 wind turbines, 200 metres high (three times the size of the Scott monument in Edinburgh) in the historic Borthwick valley, from Chisholme to Craik forest and across to the Teviot valley, turning it from a nature haven to an industrial landscape. If they succeed, the valley will be changed forever. The project is called Mid Hill Wind Farm and the 170 page scoping proposal has been published by Invenergy and submitted to the Energy Consent Unit.
